Alt J-Breeze Blocks evaluation
Alt-J Breeze Blocks Evaluation
In my remake of the music video Breeze Blocks we had things that went really well while some things didn’t go as we wanted to.
The things that went well in our music video I think is firstly the editing of the video, I think the effects like the flashing of the video whenever the singer goes “nah nah nah nah”. Also where I placed certain scenes in the music, when its calm the video shows peaceful scenes of Jordan and Elisha together, happy, and when the song picks up the pace and things start getting underway so does the video, the fight scenes start to begin and things start getting violent. Things we could improve on was firstly the filming, we had to go another time because of things like the scene being blurry or not catching want we want and I think we should have spent time doing it because we rushed it. The film followed mostly our storyboard and script; also certain things like the locations were changed due to us not being able to film because of things going on in the school at the time.
In my music video we did what every music video should, made sure the scenes were fitting with the beat of the song , we conveyed a song making our music video making it a narrative video and made sure there were no boring blank scenes.
In my group there were 4 people, me, Jordan Wardle, Elishia Selby and Matt Lumley Overall we performed well. I was firstly the camera man, I filmed the majority of the scenes alongside Matt Lumley who had the exact same role as me and filmed just as much as me. I also did effects like the rain with a water bottle out of the window which I thought was really good. Jordan and Elisha were the happy couple at the beginning who ended up fighting and end up with Jordan being arrested, I believe they both conveyed their characters well and gave a good performance.
Before filming we did all our pre-production, we researched the 3 different types of music video: performance, narrative and conceptual. We looked at examples o each and wrote about why they fit under that category which overall gave us a better understanding of music videos and helped make our own. We somewhat recreated the scenes in the actual music video but in our own way using scenes the actual video does not like the couple in the past actually being happy, and in the video it’s not a couple fighting. From my peers my feedback was overall very good. The story was conveyed well, the video is face paced at the beginning and exciting and the scenes work really well on the part of the song they are on.
Another thing I would do if we did it again is film more scenes, because of our lack of scenes I had to cut the song down and end it earlier on, which does work but I wish we could have used the full song.
Humpty Dumpty News Today Evaluation
Humpty Dumpty News Today Evaluation
In my factual fairy tale video on Humpty Dumpty we had things that went really well while some things were not so good.
The things that went well in our trailer I think is firstly the editing of the video, I think the effects like the time and the scroll bar work really well as I put time into it . The filler shots like the crane I think we’re a good idea, it was something that fit the story and weren’t too long so they weren’t boring. The filming wasn’t too bad either because the majority of the filming was done on a tripod.
Things we could improve on was firstly the pace of the video, overall I feel it is quite slow when in fact it should be fast and exciting as it is such an important issue in the video. I also feel that my introduction wasn’t very good; my other group members picked better ones first and did not me to choose the same one as them so I go the one I got.
The film followed mostly our storyboard and script, but certain things like the locations were changed due to us not being able to film there believe the trailer met most audience expectations.
In my news report there were things that every news report should have, a reporter, an anchor and the general public in the background, the things I thought the video lacked though were facts on the screen and more props we could have used like a different outfit for the people being interviewed as they all wearing the same clothes.
In my group there were 3 people, me, Jordan Wardle and Matt Lumley Overall we performed well. I was the reporter and I feel I gave a good performance however near the end the wind is quite loud and we should have filmed somewhere else. Jordan got interviewed and did well but when he speaks it sounds like it is scripted and should flow better. Matt was the anchor and I thought he did really well. Before filming we did all our pre-production, we researched what a news report looks like and making our own front cover of a newspaper using our topic of Humpty Dumpty. We looked at different factual media formats so we could choose how to portray our story and also looked into the nursery rhyme and see how other people have twisted it. We also made a storyboard so we knew when to film certain things and how to. From my peers my feedback was overall very good. The story was conveyed well, the camera work was good meaning there was no shaking of the camera and the shot types were good, the editing I was told was good with the attention to detail making the time go up and the right time. Things I could have improved on were the props, we didn’t use many, and we should off to make the video look overall better, the video also needed to be more face paced and so the introduction at the beginning didn’t help with it being slow and boring.

My group and I have decided to make a music video on the song ‘#Selfie’ we are going to remake the video with pictures of students and teachers and basically remaking the video but for our school. Using the scene of the two girls in the bathroom, we will recreate this which will then lead to us than using the pictures we have taken around our school. Matt
– (sitting at desk) Hello and welcome to CDC News and one of todays top story’s
is Humpty Dumpty’s Assassination. From an inside anonymous reporter we receive
intelligence that Humpty was assassinated by a king’s men under the kings
orders. Lets go to Stan the reporter on the scene of Dumpty's death.
//Cut
to reporter//
Stan
- (walking toward camera) Hello, thanks matt. We have received evidence
that show humpty Dumpty, the public speaker, has been assassinated. A king’s
man has been taken in by the police as a suspected murderer however, don’t we
all know who is the real murderer? The person in charge of the king’s men? The
king himself. But the question we all pose… Why?
Stan
– (Random filler shot) We have been given evidence on the murder from an
anonymous insider about the assassination and also an eye witness who saw the
entire thing. Unfortunately Mary and her little lamb cannot be here to present
her evidence however she is happy for us to say it instead. According to Mary,
one of the kings men pushed humpty of the wall while he was in the middle of a
speech addressing the entire nation about segregation however when the king’s
men went to “put him back together again” they were disposing of the evidence,
wiping of finger prints and cleaning of skin cells.
//Interview//
Stan
-(Filler shots) hundreds dead and thousands injured show the level of intensity
shown by this murder. It has also affected parents and children as schools are
closed and businesses are looted. Dan a father of two has been asked how this
awful event has changed his life.
//dowdy
man//
Matt
– As you know schools are closed, I have to look after my 2 children on my own
24/7, its hard you know, its hard. I can barley afford to feed them as my shop
has been looted. I cant afford anything anymore. I am living of scraps. It will
cost to fix my shop, a lot.
//Filler
shots//
Stan
- This event has changed nearly everyone’s lifestyle in Eggtropolice from
parents, to businessmen and even children. It has also changed the economical
state of the City as many shops have been looted and businesses destroyed. We
hope that this report has helped a lot and cleared up a few unsolved questions.
This is Stan Gulliford CDC Eggtropolice. //Send off (look at street sign)//

Synopsis:
News Today will be looking into what really happened to humpty dumpty and how it’s devastated the nation. A short news bulletin will summarise what has happened. Firstly it was believed that humpty dumpty fell and that the king’s horses and kings men couldn’t put him together again. FIB:New Haven evaluation
FIB: New Haven
The Italian Job Evaluation
In my crime drama trailer FIB: New Haven we had things that
went really well while some things were not so good.
The things that went well in our trailer I think is firstly
the editing of the video, I think the scene order, transitions and special
effects went really well with the trailer. Another good thing about our trailer
were the locations, as it was filmed in school they couldn’t be the best but we
did well in our selection. Finally the shots we took were mostly steady accept
the first person shot when the Victim is dragged.
Things we could improve on was firstly the camera shot types,
I would have preferred if we took more camera shot types like an extra-long
shot to establish the scene or a canted shot for the villain to show him as a
sick and twisted villain. Also the sound quality hen we filmed outside was poor
because of the windy conditions, it would have made the trailer sound a lot
more professional if we cut the sound from that scene or filmed indoors.
The film followed mostly our storyboard and script, but
certain things like not having props like police tape stopped us rom following
it fully. I believe the trailer met most audience expectations. There were
police, a murder, a bad guy, a victim but lacked some things like a chase scene
or the good guy catching the bad guy.
In my group there were 5 people, me, Jordan Wardle, Matt
Lumley, Rory Giddings and Andrew Goldman. Overall we performed well. Matt and
Jordan were the detectives, I was the victim, Rory was the farmer and scientist
and Andrew was Antonio the bad guy. Acting was really good from Rory and Andrew
while the detectives made mistakes like looking at the camera. This happened
once in the interrogation room Jordan looked at the camera. We tried to make
sure that everyone got the same amount of camera time by adding multiple roles
to people like Rory giving him the farmer and scientist role.
Before filming we did all our pre-production, researching
others like Sherlock and CSI our storyboard so we knew what scenes to shoot, a
script so we knew what to say, a production schedule to know when to shoot
certain scenes and watch crime drama trailers to see how to edit ours. The
script and storyboard really helped so we were not thinking of what to do on
the spot. Also the synopsis and outline to the trailer helped us understand our
story more and was it was about.
From my peers my feedback was overall very good. The story
was conveyed well, the camera work was good meaning there was no shaking of the
camera and the shot types were good. The editing was well done, the titles were
good and most importantly it looked like a crime drama. Things I could have improved
on were special effect and sound effects. There was only one special effect
during the trailer when I am being dragged and my vision is blurred and no
sound effects were made. The comments my peers have left me show I need to make
an effort to add effects to my film a firstly they are appealing and the props
used need to be more convincing than just a test tube and water in the forensic
scene.
